I'm in the office late today, so I can answer your question.
The type of lubricant we use with our HD differentials is a unique blend of Redline 75w/140 that contains 13% fully synthetic Redline LSA per bottle to support our HD clutch packs/cone springs. You can either purchase the lubricant from us pre-mixed or you can mix it yourself by adding approx. 1 oz. of Redline Synthetic LSA *ONLY* per bottle of Redline 75w/140. Shake well and add to the differential. *DO NOT* use the poor quality GM LSA and *DO NOT* use the Redline 75w/140 N.S. lubricant variant- as both of these products are the wrong lubricants to use with our differentials and will cause problems if used.
BTW- The documentation you received with your new differential already outlines this in great detail for your future reference.
Hope that helps and if you have any other questions, please call the office directly tomorrow.

I bought it directly from DTE even though we have a local Redline dealer. I would rather have them do the pre-mix just to make sure it is correct. I also bought my next change so I will have it on the shelf, once I use it I will order more and keep it on hand.

Can't remember so I hate to quote a price. I can buy Redline locally and don't recall it being more (other than shipping, but I have 7% tax locally as well).
Phil, What you guys recommend for the stock diff? Just straight 75-140W with no additional modifier?
It depends on what model year of differential you have, as GM/Getrag made changes in the later years to where they have different clutch packs than earlier years- requiring different lubricant requirements. *Generally*, for the stone-stock 1997-2004 C5 differentials~ Redline 75w/140 straight out of the bottle and only add additional Redline LSA if needed. Anything after those years use Redline 75w/140 w/ our 13% LSA blend and it will work fine.

I have 3.90s but not DTE. I use 75/ 90 ( i think) valvoline with the GM additive. Is that ok, if not what's good for me ?

Thanks Phil. Mine is 2002 C5Z06 that I mostly autocross and open track. I drive it on the streets to events though. Sounds like I should start with straight 75w/140, then add the LSA if needed.
There are lots of opinions floating around, but I know you all have done a lot of testing. Thanks for passing along some of your knowledge.

Great Phil, sounds like I'm good to go...enjoyed speaking with the Mrs. at the GM tech center
We don't know how your differential was built, so we have no idea what their lubricant requirements are. You can use our lubricant recommendations if you wish, as it won't hurt a thing for any differential- but you should check with your diff. assembler first.
