Hey guys, yes i did search! 99FRC 6 Speed drove the car yesterday and everything was fine, this morning walked up to it, popped the trunk with the fob unlocked the car with the fob. Sat down in the car went to start it and NOTHING! not even a click went to check everything else i didnt have any power. Got out a multimeter and put it across the batt terminals and the chimes started because i had the keys in the ignition, it came back to life. This is the first time this has happened im told by the previous owner that its a new battery. Ideas? battery volts according to the DIC sit at 14.1 while driving. Im a little lost maybe she didnt like the ride to Carlisle.
Check the battery terminals. My 99 used to do the same thing. Even if the terminals and cable ends look clean and feel tight, clean them again and really tighten them. A healthy dose of marine corrosion block will help greatly. I would also check all the grounds .
Look for any signs of corrosion in the cable too, up under the insulation. 14.1 volts is a bit high while driving but it may be trying to over come a corroded cable or loose cable clamp. Good luck.
Watch how tight you crank down on those terminals! 11foot-lbs. is what the GM mechanics told us at carlisle Saturday! If the terminal bolts are corroded, go to auto zone or any auto store and get replacements. They just screw out of the lug.
I had a Tahoe that had a side pole battery that leaked...everything under neath had to be replaced. The symptom was pulsing dash lights.
I could never see aleak from above.
Dirty/corroded or loose battery terminals are usually the cause of that issue. Remove the battery cables, clean/inspect the battery terminals. Look for damage and or acid leakage around the terminals (yes,, it happens all the time)
Inspect the battery cables. Check the wire to terminal connections under the plastic covers. Clean the terminals. I flush mine out with brake parts cleaner, wire brush and flush again. Then WD-40 them.
Re torque to the battery to 11 FT/Lbs. Very important to have the correct torque.
