Default wheel sensor ????"s

Thinking of replacing my stock C5 wheels/tires with a set of C6 stock wheels/tires. Will the C6 sensors be programmable to the C5? Are there any major handling or fitment issues with this swap?? (Is "fitment" a word???)

As far as I know (I could be wrong) they are not compatible with the C5 RFA. You could check with Gene Culley @ GMPARTSHOUSE.COM. He will most likely have the answer or know where to get it. You can however, install your C5 sensors in the C6 rims.

Bill,

The only time you're wrong is when you think you're wrong .... the C6 and C5 TPMS are incompatible, as you said. Part numbers are:

C6 sensor 25758220
C5 sensor 25773946 (2001-2004)
C5 sensor 10438853 (1997-2000)

GM changed the radio frequency for the C6 as part of the change to the keyless entry/keyless start system.

I had the same idea last weekend.

A friend had an extra set of factory C6 Z06 wheels/tires. So we jacked up the C5 to see if we could get them on. They fouled the rear inner wheel well (barely). Some trimming would have corrected that problem but a 1/4 spacer was alot easier. No problem with the fronts.

The C6 tire sensor must remain in the C6 wheel. Not only are the frequencies incompatable with the C5 the entire fit is incompatable also. To clear the error messages I just leave the C5 units in the glove box. They are alot easier to change now when they go bad.

C6 OEM's on my C5. Bought the wheels complete. Broke them down, sold the sensors and bought used ones, black & clear powdercoat. 1/4 spacers in the rear. No spacers in the front. No rubbing ever.
