Here is a good one, I have on occasion gotten the SEL and it indicates a rich condition in Bank 1 & 2, the car originally had a Vararam installed but I put the stock air box back in. Today I was looking for leaks and looked at the MAF and (2.4 9.6 LS1 +5%) is engraved in the side by the connector, looks like where the barcode was, but it has been removed. Just looking to see, this is mind boggling.
2002 Z06 37K miles on it. No screen on it. The LS1 is what is weird.
I sounds like it is an aftermarket MAF. Designed to run on different Air/Fuel tables.
Perhaps to compensate for the lean running Vararam.
Maybe that is why it is now running rich....
I am only speculating...
Perhaps someone on the Board knows....

bump for you....
That is what I am starting to think also, I think I might 'disable' this thing and let GMPP replace it, I got the rich codes on the way home tonight.
I think that someone has re-calibrated the MAF table to compensate either for an aftermarket MAF or for the Vararam-- The #'s do have some correlation to the HZ MAF table--Idle is generally between 2400 HZ ( the 2.4 ) and 2800 HZ ---and WOT it is generally between 9000 HZ and 10000 HZ ( the 9.6)----- And they probably added 5% globally beween these 2 #'s---I would put a Stock MAF back in it and download the stock MAF table back in----The stock MAF is good for 500 RWHP-
Sounds like your PCM has been tuned. If so, most of the time it is for the better. If GM does anything with the PCM, they will reflash the entire thing back to OEM Stock. That could be good or bad. What modifications does your car have now. If for instance you have an aftermarket CAM installed, reflashing it back to stock might cause driveability issues.

Why did you remove the VARARAM?
Bill
Engine is stock as well as every thing else. That is why I am not too woried about resetting the PCM. As for removing the vararam, I did not care for it.
