Thanks for everyone's help.

I tried using a jumper in the Clutch safety switch and it still won't start.

I gave up and had it towed into the Chevy dealer. They are looking at it but have not called with their guess.

Thanks again for everyones help.

I'm going to venture a guess at a broken wire or bad connection somewhere. Maybe, even the ignition switch itself.

The Chevy dealer called back so I wanted to give everyone an update.

Looks like LoneStarFRC was right. The problem was a burned starter relay. Said it was the first time they had seen that.

So I get to pick it up today. Nice that it was a half day job.

Hope it's not too good to be true.

Thanks again to everyone that gave me some advice. I got to learn a lot about the car very quickly.

Thanks.

Glad to see it was something fairly simple and easy to repair. BTW, was the relay number on the work order 12177233? That's the Theft Deterrent Relay.

Having the feedback from forum members helps guys like me, Bill Curlee, Patches and others, make note of these things for future reference.

Robert,
The work order shows 12193604 Relay. It also says Cause: starter relay faulty.

The electronic diagram does not show a starter relay so you will need to look up the part number and see if you get a different description.

by the way, they double checked everything you guys told me to check.

Thanks again for the help.

It is definitely the TDR on your car. In that circuit, the power flowing through the contacts of that relay goes directly to the starter solenoid (purple wire).
Could be a superceding part number from the other one or a change made in '01 (my parts listing only went up through '00 on that item) The way they described it on the WO and the actual GM name are sometimes different. Sometimes it just depends on the parts guy who issued the part to the tech.
Many times they will use "shorthand" on the paperwork.

Glad to see you're rolling again.

"Ignition Relay" according to the GM Parts computer. .Still possible it's used as a replacement for the TDR Though.

Quality parts from the lowest bidder...
