Harmonic Balancer for 98 C5
The harmonic balancer for my 98 C5 just went; I just bought a new one that does not have the keyed groove in the center hole that sits onto the crankshaft. I need to know the following in order to make the right decision.
1-Is the stock balancer is keyed/grooved or not?
2-If installed, will the non keyed/grooved balancer spin on the shaft when the engine is running?
Any correct response is greatly appreciated

No, the stock balancer is not keyed. I've never heard of one spinning unless you have forced induction.

Lots of previous threads on this. The balancer is not keyed to the crankshaft. There are kits available to dowel and pin it if you so desire. When properly installed, the balancer will USUALLY not come loose or spin on the crank nose, but it is technically possible. I just replaced mine at 102000 miles. So far so good. I did not pin it.

Is your crankshaft pinned? If yes, might as well take advantage of it. Do you have a photo of the old damper, its either aftermarket or someone had the keyway milled into the stock unit for pinning.
