My A/C went out and instead of getting it fixed, I just want to bypass it. I don't use my AC anyway. How do I go about bypassing the AC? would I have to get a shorter belt?
It's very easy after you have done it a couple of times. Both belts have tensioner pulleys. I use a rachet and socket to move the tensioner pulley to take tension off the belt and then slip the belt off the pulley. Be sure to note how the front belt is run before you take it off. It should be a 3 minute job if everything goes well.
is there anymore power to be had with the removal of the A/C belt.
The A/C compressor is disengaged when you go to wide open throttle to reduce drag. Without a belt there would be a slight increase in available HP but nothing you would notice.
