C5 Voltage Display

C5 Voltage Display
As I'am sure you all know, the C5 displays instant alternator voltages. Mine reads any were between 13.2 volts, as high as 14.2 volts. Is this normal? I was always told that normally an alternator kicks out 14.7 volts. I have a 1998 convertible with 24000 miles on it. I have only had this beautiful baby since end of June. Still learning. Does this sound like a possible alternator or battery issue. Thank you for any input.

You might want to mention what rpm and electrical load goes along with the voltages you've given. Low rpm and high electrical load makes it more difficult for an alternator to give a good charging voltage, as you probably know. The voltages you given don't sound to far off to me provided they're being observed at different rpm's and electrical loads.

These voltages seem to vary all over the place even during the day when I'am not running any lights, just stereo and running lights. Today example; aprox. 1900 rpms running just stereo and running lights. My reading was 13.2 volts.
