Default Intake Manifold Whistle

Is there a reasonable cure for the 2001 intake whistle?
Now that it is cold, it is very pronounced.
Do they have a cure short of replacing the maniford?
I'm not confident of dealer mechanics' talent.

The whistle in my car disappeared after a couple of months. Give it some time; your whistle may do the same.

Pepper:
Feel the same way about the whistling manifold. There is another way to fix this but it requires some risk. You can fill the problematic plenum cavity with steel putty to eliminate the whistle. This repair is not for amateurs, but could be accomplished using the directions C5 Tech has provided on this forum. Do a search on "plenum whistle" I believe. The best answer is replacement of the existing manifold with a 2002 manifold. I also wonder if my dealer could perform this repair without screwing up my C5. Trust me...if you have this problem it doesn't go away spontaneously. Good luck. I'm still debating which way to go. Whistling has got to go.

That's odd because the whistle coming from my intake did just that! I'm willing to bet this was the case with others as well.

My 01 has started whistling a little when the car is cold, now that the weather is cooler, but soon goes away. It usually starts a mile or more from home and quits within a few blocks. No biggie for me, but I've supercharged cars with Gilmer-belt drives that REALLY whistle, so I guess it's relative. If it's a problem for you, get the new manifold. Why do a "mickey mouse" repair on a $40-50+K car? Best of luck. :yesnod:

My whistle occurs when the throttle is first or just barely cracked open. That results in a constant whistle when cruising on the highway with small throttle openings between 2000-2500 rpm.

It also occurs every thime the trottle is cracked open, meaning every shift, every start off.

The colder it gets out here, the more it persists.

Never heard it while the top was down from June through September. Hah!

Snow is coming soon so I won't hear it for the next 5 months while it sleeps.

It is very annoying right now, Wish the dealer had a trade-in policy for warantee parts.
