I have thought about using one to make it easier to change the oil filter but decided against it. More connections and hoses would just mean more areas for things to leak down the road.

Default JC Whitney?

I remember them when I was a 16 year old kid and getting their catalogs in the mail. Am I being a snob by saying that I really wouldn't put anything from JC Whitney on my 'vette? Besides, you gotta get under there to remove the drain plug anyway? I do my own oil changes and my Rhino Ramps were cheaper than that relocation kit. I agree with the other post here in that the more connections the more places for leaks to occur. Keep it simple.

I have something similar for my DRM in the radiator engine oil cooler setup. My setup includes a thermostatic bypass valve which makes a plumbing nightmare around the filter and cooler. Here are some pictures with the bypass valve. The plumbing was much simpler without the valve.

Oil filter adapter:

Remote Oil Filter: The shiny thing just above the hoses is the bypass valve which forms an H in the lines between the filter and the cooler.

Default Well, OF COURSE!

Man that install looks beautiful man! Looks like it coulda come off of a Space Shuttle! Definitely not a JC Whitney product, or is it? Very Clean and very "Factory" looking, just like the boys at Bowling Green! I am sure they would approve!

Don't know which one would be the best but I assume either would need to be drilled and tapped to work properly. I'm gonna buy one and get the proper tap, I will let you know which one I end up with.

Here's the bracket for the remote filter:

Default Why not relocate your steering wheel and tail lights too

Why would anyone add a bunch of hoses and parts to something as simple to change as an OIL FILTER. If you want to pay the vette tax go right ahead. While you are at it add some portholes to your front fenders to make your car look KOOL.

Becasue my oil temps on road courses go through the roof. If you read my original post, it stated that I wanted to add an oil cooler with this remote filter and there has been a very informative thread about making your own

here----------> http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1689917

I agree with that thread that oil flow is better by going via the oil filter location and placing the filter somewhere else as opposed to using the oil sensor location. Not to mention using a remote filter allows you to run a bigger filter and have more capacity.

I chose to start a new thread to ask a question rather then hijacking that thread, not to solicit a debate or an offer to hurl insults at me.

And not one of the replies has had any experience with the product that I was asking for.

So everyone in the other thread who is using a remote filter should add portholes to their front fenders too????????

As far as JC whitney is concerned, they are merely the supplier for Trans Dapt, just like Summitt is, Whitney doesn't make the part and Whitney doesn't charge a 10 dollar processing fee per order like Summitt does. So whats the difference?

In some way my question seems to have added to a bad day already for a few people, I am truly sorry to have offended anyone with my question. It was very stupid of me. Please direct me to the approprite person to screen my questions prior to posting to make sure they are not stupid.

Now to figure out exactly where to put those portholes at on my fnders, I wanna be cool.

Fwiw Transdapt Is Old And Reliable Company, And Is Sold By A Lot Of Other "mail Order Outlets" Besides Jcw. The Kit Listed, I Think, Only Fits The Old Small Block And Not The Ls1's.
