Default Electrical problem!!!

I have a strange electrical problem on my 99. I changed the rear today, 3.42 back to 2.73, and did an oil change while the car was up on jack stands. Started the car, checked the oil pressure all was fine. I turned the car around, noised it into the garage and made the rear change in the VCM with the HP Tuner program. Went for a test drive, halfway down the block, the HUD and all the gauges stopped working. Lights, radio, etc. work ok. The dash display reads “Brake Before Shift” all the time even when the key is off.

Anyone ever come across something like this?

I'm going to take a wild guess that either or all of three things may have happened. Either you have left something disconnected, lost a ground or your tuning program upload didn't complete properly, therefore the PCM isn't working correctly. I believe the TCM is outside up above the differential, so you might look there first. Have you pulled the codes?

I don't mean to hijack this post but why are you switching back to 2.73 gears? I have 2.73s and thought that 3.42s would be great, is there something negative about the 3.42s?

Thanks,

Anthony in Trenton

No negative all positive. I been removing all the mods, I’m preparing to sell the car.

Yep!

Been there,, freaked out the same way!

The very first time I up-loaded my EFI Live tune and the dash gages started to stop working ONE BY ONE until all I had left was the speed O,, I thought I toasted the PCM! The first one to quit was the OIL PRESSURE gage!

Up-loaded the tune again and all was well again!
