Default c6 shocks?

Hi all,
I read a post a couple days ago that started me thinking.
I have a 02 vert and have changed out the sway bars to z06 and added the abs of steel and couldn't believe the difference it has made. I didn't relize the GM shocks are as cheap as they are.

Question, would the 04 or the 06 zo6 shocks work the best for my car?

Thanks for your input.

Default shocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The '04 Z06 shocks are very stiff riding from what I understand, perhaps the roughest riding of all the GM Z shocks. I myself am contemplating switching to a C6 Z shock in my '01 ( '01 Z being the least desired of the GM Z shocks for active driving).

Really depends on situation, kinda subjective I suppose.

The 2004 C5Z06 Sachs shocks are great, not too stiff, but superfast react absorb shocks and resultant is anouther Corvette with a nearly perfect handling on all kinds of roads (bad side roads or highspeed on german autobahn).

My FE1 before was terrifying .

I changed the shocks together with the GM metall endlinks and the C5Z06 stabis and I love the result .

The C6 Z06 shcoks are a big improvement over the stock C5 shocks and for under $250/4 ( see GMpartshouse September specials in the C5 General section) you can't find a better value.
Go with the C6 Z06 you will be more than satisfied.

I was going to get the C6 ZO6 shocks but on the GM parts web sight it says they are not recomended for cars lowerd on stock bolts. I have done some searches and found some cars that have them that are lowerd so not sure what to get.

I am leaning towards the C6 ZO6 shocks myself. I am hoping they would be at least as firm as the Z51 shocks on the FRC. With 70K on the car, I'm sure they would be firmer than what I have now.

mine is lowered and no problems.
btw...i can tell it made a big different...when i went to my buddys house to do the swap on the shocks. i had to drive over a rail road track and went over it again when it was done. the car didn't bounce as much as it did vs the old shocks.

The strike is now over, order until your hearts are content. Thanks to Richard for his plug on GM Parts House.

As far as them being put on lowered vehicles... they 06 Z shocks are a tad longer which lower the suspension a bit more, not a lot, but a bit, and with it being completely lowered on stock bolts it is of course, pretty low.

I just put that on there because I had a customer install them one time on a completely lowered C5 and he gave me an ear full.
