Default Third time Chevy Fix Service steering column lock

My 2000 six speed hardtop has just been repaired by Chevy for the third time to fix the dreaded Service steering column lock. First campaign done in 2003, I did not own car. On july 2, 2007 my car locked up on me ( Service steering column lock, pull key & wait ten seconds) stranded in North Carolina while trying to get to vacation in South Carolina. Car flat bedded to Chevy. GM reimbursed me for Chevy invoice only. August 11, 2007 Service steering column lock appeared again and fuel cut off when I moved car. The GM customer specialist said it could not be happening. Flat bedded car to local Chevy dealer in NY. Chevy said two problems, one faulty passlock sensor R/R lock recode key cylinder relearn VTD security system. Second problem the dreaded Service steering column lock & car fuel would cut off. Chevy mechanic told me he called GM tech line for help. The BCM was replaced & program still no action to column lock sensor. GM said to replace column lock sensor, still no action. Clear battery, still no acttion. Remove recall relay and harness, still no action. GM fix: Remove purple relay wire from sensor and C-3 A-6 connectors, Switch orange & white wires at relay. Replace relay switch green wire & relearn sensor system wires required. Over three weeks later I got car home, received a $ 2,000.00 bill from Chevy and when I got home I realized My key fob doesn't work. Is that because of recoding key cylinder? My other key fob at home did not as well. Thanks in advance for reading my long winded story, but I hope the fix as it reads on my Chevy bill will help other corvette owners. I am now going to GM for financial assistance since they repaired it @ 6 weeks ago. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Rich
PS Bill Curlee, I need your help.

You need to relearn your fobs. Go out and stand buy car and hold lock and unlock buttons at the same time for about 7 seconds you will here horn honk when it does fob is relearned. If that dosnt work youll have to reprogram them from the dic........

You need to read the stickies at the top of the tech home page. Also search in both the tech and general forums for such things as “CLB”, “column” and “lock”. I would not think you would be liable for all of those charges.

Call the GM Customer Service Assistance Hot Line. Prepare your case ON PAPER, Get all the facts together and rehearse the facts of the case and Let em have it! Present them the facts and tell them what parts were replaced that shouldn't have. Tell them your very dissatisfied with the BS repairs and want a reimbursement on the repairs.

Some of those repairs were completely unnecessary and the tech was easter egging parts at YOUR expense! (replacing parts to see if it fixes the problem!) Once you explain your issue, they will give you a case number. Then it will go before a board and a decision will be made as to the outcome of your case. It will be either one of these outcomes:

1. Were sending you $2000. cause your dealer is a dumb A$$ !!
2. We feel bad for you and yes your are correct. We feel you paid $XXX. too much.
3. We agree with your case and were going to give you a $2000. DISCOUNT ON YOUR NEXT GM PURCHASE!
4. Sorry bub, your on your own.

The decision will take a long time but you can vent and you may get SOME or maybe even ALL of your money back!

Bill

I am using the same GM case # they issued me when they reimbursed me back on July 02,2007 for same condition. I hope GM turns my very dis-satisfied customer experience into a positive one. I even copied GM fix to my thread to help other owners a quicker fix and from avoiding going through the mud. I'll keep everyone informed of decision. Thanks for your support. Rich
