Website is in the sig, but call for details.....we will take the time to discuss just what you want to accomplish as well as what you will use the car for. No one size fits all, and you don't need to over build it if the application dosen't warrant it.

That may be a tall order, 10-13 psi AND 600-650 hp AND DD ??

There are lots of ANDs in there.

For instance, LGs motor in his World Challenge Corvette is a 6 liter LS2. It has forged internals, blue printed, balanced, dry sump oiling system, Fast 90/90 & puts out ~ 550 BHP before the air restrictors the SCCA-Pro Mandates. SO his car is about 525 BHP.

His engines are good for three to four races before blowing up or need to be rebuilt.

I mean no offense, but instead of being a numbers person, why not figure out what you want your car to do? then talk to an engine builder you trust and get their recommendations.

Big numbers, big boost AND reliability are not always used in the same sentence.

I would love to have a 600 bhp monster LS7 or LSx ( 427 ci ) block and race motor.

Good luck on your project

We have just finished a 1,000 RWHP Z06 that we built to hold 23lbs boost, but it makes the #'s at 19. We have a variable boost controller so it can be driven at 12-15 and still give 600-700 to be more driveable.

Of course this was purpose built from the motor on back to the rear & cost over $60k, it is built with the best we do. The car is beyond a beast, but looks stock (turbos hid in the frnt fenders, etc.) for the ultimate sleeper look.

You are correct that this is not a car that will be driven 200k miles w/out issues, but driven conservative should give some trouble free miles with an occaisonal 230 mph run.

If that is what you want. I would think that all you would need is to have the existing engine refreshed and the sts kit installed

with the budget you stated of 3-4 grand , just rebuild your current motor with forged rod and pistons for around $2000-2800 depending on what all you do. a 402LS2 short block can be built for about $4200 but then you still have all the extras and the install labor to go with that...

Here's a list of motors from a while back...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ed&forum_id=86

Maybe it's better to ask on LS1tech, but what forged shortblocks have you guys found? I was about to place an order with Andy, but I didn't realize a core charge existed.

Edit 10/13/05: Some builders only use new blocks which are 2nd-Gen LS motors and which require shorter head studs. A set of replacement ARP head studs adds about $250 to the price. I wasn't warned about this when I ordered my TSP motor although they asked what year my block was. I didn't discover this until assembly time.

This is what I found so far (prices are shortblock/core/total), sorted by total price:
_____$2,000+_____
347 LS6 forged pistons & rods (stock crank) $2,699 no core $0 Texas Speed (TX) Special $2,699
