12 Months in this car and 1 ticket for not having a front plate - still no plate in the front of my car! NEVER!
I have had several sports cars and it has been a rule since my buds back in school - NEVER to put a front liscence plate on the front of a KICK BUTTT SPORTS CAR!
Have a lookse at the new Cadillac CTS - no front brackets!
Have a lookse at the new Porsche 911s - no front brackets!
Cops that pull you over JUST for that are simply JEALOUS and nothing more, plain and simple, any human that would waste time on both parties ends, mentally is in a mode of jealously driven attitude just to take time to point it out - and they REALLY must like your ride if they hand you a ticket - thus you can take it as a compliment. :D
I don't have a front plate on any of my cars, and it is law here in California too. Screw them. My wife got a warning once, but I've never been cited.
I don't know the specifics on plates, but I got cited once for a red bug deflector on my truck. It was a fix it ticket and some a-hole pulled me over just for that. (I saw him spot me too. He was just pulling out from a hiding place--apparently discouraged by no hits--and bingo he sees me. He probably started to salivate.) Anyway, only three screws held on the bug deflector, so I made him sign off the ticket before he had a chance to get back on his bike.
Just a suggestion...take it for what it's worth... but I put on one of those clear acrylic front license plate covers for $25 bucks. Although it doesn't look as good as the stock piece, it doesn't look that bad.... I try not to give 5.0 a reason to pull me over....other than speeding, of course.
What's the big deal? If you're required by law to have a front plate, put it on. You can't see it from behind the wheel and why invite an officer to pull you over. Maybe you had a cocktail at dinner and he/she decides to make a big deal out of it. Just go with the flow and don't ask for trouble. :yesnod:
Incorrect. There is no provision in the law for that, I called them and asked that specific question.
Maybe things are different in Temple.. Went to the judge about the plate and he told me he needed a picture of the car with a front plate and he would dismiss the ticket... Gave me 30 days to do so, I did, and he dismissed the ticket.
It's all up to the cop. I got pulled over 2 times. The first time for crossing over double lines but he did not say anything of no frt plate. The second time just to asked me why i don't have it on...gave me a warning. This happen in 2 different cities.
I was pulled over several years ago for speeding in my WS.6 and also received the no front license plate ticket was well. :nopity
I was also pulled over a few months ago in the 'vette and was given a written warning. . . by guess who??? Texas DPS.
He gave me some sob story about how if the car is stolen, they'd be able to recover it easier at the Mexican border if it had the front plate on it.
I think DPS is cracking down on it so that they can catch speeders easier with Laser.
Since it isn't a moving violation and doesn't affect my insurance, I've got it in the budget to get 2 of these tickets a year. As I've gotten 1 in 10 years of driving w/o it, I'm way ahead of my budget. :jester
No front plate here either :D I have been pulled over 3 times and so far none of them have mentioned about no front plate. On my next vette, I'll ask if they can finance the "no front plate" ticket costs into the loan
Amen Bro! If I can afford this Vette and Mods Galore - then I can afford a couple of tickets a year to donate to the Judges retirement fund!
