Has anyone unbolted and completely removed a Vert Top including the folding framework? Interested in doing a top swap and would like some pointers.
I would Recommend Taking it to An Upholstery /Glass Shop & Let them take it off & put the new one on ,I say this Because i had my glass on My 00 vert come out ,when the only thing holding it up were the 2 elastic peices that The Gm Engineers knew would be a Problem on these Verts,The Skin has to be pulled Down Pretty Tight,I Bought a Robbins Top & took the car to my Local Glass/Upholstery Shop, where they were able to put it on for 400.00 ,The top was 600.00 so i now have 1k in the top ,& i didnot have to replace the foldingframe,, if u feel Comfortable about doing it Yourself i say Go for it , I didnt & I am Mechanically Inclined
Anyone? I found a great deal on a top and would like to at least read the process (if available) then decide whether to go for it or take it to a shop.
Saw this post back up. I ended up trading tops with sxe60. It is a very VERY easy bolt on/off process if you have a frame. Corvettes of Dallas convinced me to do this. They said that it was cheaper buying one with a frame from someone than installing just the top.
Now, a new problem has rose from this. My window just now decided to come unglued? at the top edges. Has anyone had this happen or done a repair on the rear vert top window?
Over the years I've watched many similar threads on a do it yourself vert top install come and go and I have yet to see anyone post detailed info on how to diy. The reason is it seems to be a very tedious/difficult job I believe so I would take their word for it as mentioned in the prior posts.

My window came loose and I used RHINO glue. It worked perfect. do a search and you will find a write up on this and they used the RHINO glue to do it. I bought it on line. IT WORKS

Thanks for the info! My problem that I was wondering about was once the glue is on... How did you manage to keep any pressure to get the seal? You can't really use a clamp on it can you?
Good Advise BUT -- if you run into problems -- PLEASE come by the shop and let us take a look. Sometimes the easy can become tricky.
Regardless -- we are here for you. If you want to call -- ask for me and I will have service get on the call.

There have been a couple of threads along these lines lately. There was a guy about a year ago who posted the repair process with pictures. He used a suction type dent puller and the Rhino glue. I had a 3 1/2 inch area along the bottom of mine start to seperate a couple of weeks ago. I used the Rhino glue (it's good stuff and the extra fine applicator tips came in very handy). Since mine was on the bottom edge I was able to use some large C-clamps. I modified them by glueing some thin (about 1/4 inch thick) 4 inch long wood strips (actually an old wooden ruler) to the clamps to spread out the pressure (you are clamping not only the fabric but the GLASS TOO) evenly. As luck would have it I ended up redoing the whole bottom edge of the window, about 4 inches at a time. It's also a good idea to be patient and take your time. If you could find some long reach clamps (possibly welders long reach vise grips) I think it might be possible to do the top edge too, or use the dent puller arrangement in the other thread (I wish I had the link to post, but I'm sure if you do a search you will find it).
