Here we go again!

Bravo to the OP! I am glad you posted your experience up.

Run-flats have saved my bacon, too. I agree 100% they do rock

My plan when I get new tires: non runflats and one of those Mercedes jacks for $60 along with a tire iron. If I get a flat, I jack up the car, take the tire off, and get a ride either by towtruck or whatever to a place that can repair the tire. Nobody touches the car.

Now let's hear the reply, "I'd never leave my car sit on the side of the road!"

My runflats are finally worn to the point of needing replacement. I am going to with the GSD3's. IMHO the runflats are to hard and noisey. Also the GSD3's are supposed to be better in the rain. I'll deal with a flat if I get one.

Their great if you're not interested in knowing what the vette is capable of... handling wise.

I replaced my run flats with GSD3's. The car no longer jumps over the interstate seems. The driving noise is way down. The car rides much better and in a heavy rain the tires grab very well. Run Flats are a terrible ride.

I'm confused as to which way to go.When the time comes for new tires, I just may get 2 run flats and 2 regular tires...but then I may be confused as to where to put the run flats>>>on the front or the back or on one side>>>but then which side or on opposite corners but which opposite corners???

I have never figured out where this noise thing comes from? I've never thought the Goodyears are noisy.. Any tire will get harder and therefore noisier as it approaches the end of its useful life. Just put on a new pair of F1 Emt's I don't need the hassle of waiting 3 hrs. for a flatbed, 12V compressors, plug kits etc.

Any car w/tires that are missing the valve core and can take a corner at high-speed handles well enough for me

Good luck getting a signal when you catch that flat in the middle of nowhere, or on the bad side of town, or on the freeway. You guys have one of the most technologically sound vehicles on the planet and yet a lot of you want to take the Vette back to 1970. Hope Bubba Gump from AAA know how to put your Vette on the flatbed.

That may not be such a great idea. The 2 sets will handle completely different and may not be that safe.

Obviously Generous Motors disagreed with you. Let's see now, where did I read something about those Z06s.........oh yeah, that's right, no runflats.

If it handles high-speed well enough for you then great

BTW, I have had to put it on a flatbed.. the wait I accept and not watching them put it on the flatbed is out of the question. On long drives, I keep a spare in the hatch. Oh and maybe my power adder makes it a necessity..

Erm... No... Sorry but pushrods, leafsprings, and that RETARDED radio/CD player and state-of-the-80s climate control doesn't quite qualify as "one of the most technolgically sound vehicles on the planet".
Is your corvette one of the fastest / best handling vehicles for the money it cost you? Sure... But the Z06 is faster and handles better, and good part of that is attributed to the fact that it does NOT come with run flats. Non run flats cost less, weight less grip better and transmit less noise into the cockpit. For that I am willing to utilize my flat tire repair kit if the need ever arises

Alright smart guy, if GM disagrees so much, why do ALL C6s including the Z06 now have GY run flats?

Do some research before you make ignorant statements

Well, when it comes to runflats, you have to ask yourself several questions.
1. What kind of driving am I going to be doing? local, long distance, racing, city, major traffic driving, at the track, etc.
2. Am I doing it to save money? runflats are more expensive by far
3. Who will be driving the car? just me or maybe my wife
4. Do I know how to repair (plug) a non-runflat? Many have no idea how to do this. Some haven't even thought of trying to get that tire up in the air and put the plug in. What they haven't thought about is how they will get the jack under the car with the car now lower than before, doing all of this while on the side of the highway.
5. Are they doing this because they acted on the spur of the moment and from what they have heard? I say this because it basically encompasses just about everything asked above but answers the question that some people may not know any better.

Many times people will say they got rid of the runflats for the better handling, which is great. We all know that non-runflats weigh less, handle better, but what we should be telling these people is to make sure you have a contingency plan in case you have a flat. I have heard of some talking about how they will use a can of "Fix-A-Flat" and here henceforth known as "Ruined TPMS in a Can".

To the poster of the thread, I have had so many flats that I freaking think I am jinxed. I do make long trips and because of that I will continue to use runflats. My wife also drives the car and I like the added piece of mine knowing she will be ok and not stuck on the side of the road in traffic.
