Default Raising Front End

I've done a search on the "how to" question ( opposite of lowering ), but I'm just wondering if there's any info on the relation between the # of threads you turn in/out and the distance the car raises/lowers.
I have installed a front spoiler and it scraps on EVERYTHING, I'm lowered on stock bolts and would like to raise it by 1/2", I'm hoping it's not a trial and error type of thing, lift car/turn bolt/lower car and repeat

It is definitely lift, turn, lower, drive for a bit, repeat if necessary. Look on the bright side. You can do this, record your findings, and post to help the next person avoid it!

OK, wait a minute, after I posted my smart-a$$ remarks, I realize I did this myself AND documented height changes. Here they are, and read carefully because I changed measuring points to some place more accurate. Let me know if this is helpful:

Lowering Notes

Measurement before lowering - ground to fenderwell:

Rear 28 3/4"
Front 27 1/4"

Rear: 11 threads showing on the bolt when viewed from the top of the spring

Front: 11 turns out from all the way down (turn counter-clockwise to lower car)

After lowering around Mid-February, 2006:

Both front and back dropped about 7/8"

Rear: left 3 threads showing on bolt on top of spring

Front: 11 revolutions counter-clockwise to bottom, then 1 revolution clockwise to be just off bottom

After raising back up on 2/28/06:

Rear: 11 threads showing on the bolt on top of spring

Front: Only able to turn clockwise 10 1/4 turns

Rear: 28 7/8"
Front: 27 7/8"

Rake should be 1/4 - 3/8" difference between front and back, measured at frame rails just behind front wheels and just in front of rear wheels.

3/2 Left front was 28
Right front was 27 3/4

Lowered left front 5 turns Now 5 1/4 clockwise turns from lowest position
Lowered right front 3 turns Now 7 1/4 clockwise turns from lowest position

3/12 Left front was 27 3/16
Right front was 27 1/8

Raised left front 1/2 turn Now 5 3/4 clockwise turns from lowest position
Raised right front 1 turn Now 8 1/4 clockwise turns from lowest position

Left front now 27 5/16
Right front now 27 1/4

3/15 At screw near jacking point on frame using small 3 foot tape measure:

Left front: 5 3/8 Right front: 5 2/8
Left rear: 5 4/8 Right rear: 5 5/8

Did not touch left front Still 5 3/4 clockwise turns from lowest position
Raised right front 1/2 turn Now 8 3/4 clockwise turns from lowest position

3/17 At screw near jacking point on frame using small 3 foot tape measure:

Left front: 5 3/8 Right front: 5 3/8
Left rear: 5 4/8 Right rear: 5 5/8

Did not touch left rear Still 11 threads showing
Lowered right rear 1/2 turn Should now be 10 1/2 threads showing

3/23 At screw near jacking point on frame using small 3 foot tape measure:

Left front: 5 3/8 Right front: 5 1/4
Left rear: 5 1/2 Right rear: 5 5/8

Raised left rear 1/2 turn Should now have 11 1/2 threads showing
Did not touch right rear Should still have 10 1/2 threads showing

Did not touch left front Should still be 5 3/4 clockwise turns from lowest position
Raised right front 1/2 turn Now 9 1/4 turns from lowest position

3/24 At screw near jacking point on frame using small 3 foot tape measure:

Left front: 5 7/16 Right front: 5 7/16
Left rear: 5 5/8 Right rear: 5 6/8

Did not touch left rear Should still have 11 1/2 threads showing
Lowered right rear 1/2 turn Should now have 10 threads showing

3/29 At screw near jacking point on frame using small 3 foot tape measure, with full tank:

Left front: 5 3/8 Right front: 5 3/8
Left rear: 5 5/8 Right rear: 5 5/8

Excellent, thanks for the info and quick reply. I'm not sure if I will attempt this now as unfortunately I put my car into winter storage ( I know, a word your probably not familiar with down your way ) in a few weeks, so I may wait until next spring to do this. I'm sure your info will be a great help when I do get around to doing it though.

Thanks again,
Ray

Which part made you laugh? The part where I catch myself putting my foot in my mouth in my first reply to the OP? :o
