Default How do you bleed power steering rack?

Hi guys when installing my blower I had to remove the steering rack, now everything is bolted back up , but I have about in inch of "play" in the steering wheel. I refilled the reseviour but I think I must still need to bleed the system.

Does anyone here have a how to?

Thanks,

Andy Wheeler

With the engine off, take the cap off the resovoir and turn the wheels from lock to lock about 30 times, it helps if the front wheels are off the ground. That usually works for me.

take a turkey baster or 50 cc syringe and suck out the old PS fluid. Repalce with new, then turn on the car, move steering wheel side to side many times, turn off. replace PS fluid as before.

Power steering fluid is ATF but a different color. So no need to have two different fluids.

The manual calls for a vacuum to be put on the reservoir where the cap is to purge the air.

Wow!

Thanks guys! I will first try the lock to lock method and see how that goes, and if that doesnt work I will try the turkey baster method, and if that dosnt work, I will put the mighty vac on it and pull the air out that way!

Thanks a ton guys!
