Default Not too crazy about BB bullets

I finally got a chance to put on the bullets I ordered..........& they are not what I was hoping for. They ARE loud and at the higher RPM range I basicly like them, but for just cruising without getting wild, I am not very fond of the sound. The sound I like is the modular Ford motors. I hear GT's all the time just taking off from lights without getting wild & they sound so damn good! I had a magnaflow system on my GT and it was a great V8 sound. The Vett's I hear that DO sound awsome, have the whole system redone W/ headers & usually a hot cam.

Nobody better say " Go get a GT then!" cause a GT can't hold a candle to my C5. I will just live with the sound! It's NOT that bad, just not as amazing as I hoped for!

Mine came today, so i am eager to get them on, how long did it take for the install ? I am quite certain I'll like them, in a city like philly where u can't hear your ownself think, I think I'll enjoy the rumble of my C-5 over most others.. I feel you on the Stang issue my fox body 89 with long tubes and two chanmber flowmasters no cats, and a Vortech A-trim was a work of art, but like you said that was then,,, the lift at my local muffler joint can't get the vette off the ground with their lift set up gotta go to somewhere that has the rite lift... oh well at least there here.... drive em for awhile u may like em.

For the sound your looking for you probably will need headers and cam. Assuming you want more rumble, like the Ford.

The type of sound I was looking for, or hoping for, is similiar to a Ford V8. I guess I am not gonna get that without spending some big bucks!

They are pretty easy to put on. About 2 hours with pulling off my corsa's & installing the bullets. Just make sure you reinstall & tighten the sway bar bolts before you attach the pipes. I was a little anxious & did do some disassembly! A little more time to align everything. I did have to scrape some residue off the forward side of the flanges, I think it was gasket material. Mostly at the bottom of the flange & none at the top. All in all an easy job!

Like I said, sound is not bad at all, I guess I want my perfect sound & I know exactly what I want.

Rob

It is due to GM changing the firing order on their LS1. They did it so they could raise compression (get more HP) without overheating and getting predetonation. This is what creates the "motorboat sound".

I hate it, Chevy V8 trucks sound better than our cars !

I went through a set of Borla Stingers and B&B Bullets before finally deciding on a set of GHL Bullets with my AR headers, cam, etc. (383 stroker) - great sound without the annoying resonance. Great quality and price too!

Default I love the sound at idle and mid to high rpms

I have LG Pro Longtube headers, X pipe, No cats , and the quad tipped BBExhaust. At any rate my car idles around 1000 rpms and sounds like a NASCAR (big cam) and above 3000 rpms is to say the least WICKED. Doesn't sound anything like FORD mustang GT's. I love the factory sound of GT's but I can't agree that they sound better then the way our cars sound with the bullets. GTs sound hollow to me. JMHO. I was told that I could be heard nearly 2 miles away under WOT. She's a screamer. LOL.

As I can see, almost everyone has some extensive mods to their exhaust system. My car is stock other than the K&N & modified air box. I did hear a stock Z, online, with bullets & it sounded pretty cool.

I am gonna drive my Vett alot & see how the bullets grow on me!

if you removed the sway bar clamps, ( where it mounts to the cradle) you may have messed with your alignment. I found that the one bolt is also the lower control arm bolt and the arm WILL move if the suspension is loaded enough to have some force on it. It will cause an alignemnt issue. Easy to keep in check, just mark the arm with the chassis and make sure it stays put.

My car was on ramps when I did this job! That's the first I heard of this. The car seems to be driving fine, how would I know, other than in an alignment shop, if I did anything negative to my alignment?

I had an '01 Cobra (Quad cam)before my Z, and with Magnaflows, it had the sweetest V8 sound ever, bar none, case closed.( my opinion only, not really.) The only problem was it wasn't loud enough with the otherwise stock exhaust system. I was going to install headers, SC, etc., when I happened to drive a friend's new 'Vette coupe, and that was the end of my Mustang experiment. The LS engines do sound different, but in their own way, almost as great, and with all the choices available, you can tailor the loudness level, and tone, to your individual tastes. All it takes is money to try all the combinations.

For me, the modular motors from Ford sound the best. As for my Vett exhaust, I am done spending $. This is the 3rd system I've had on my Vett. My Corsa Indy's actually sounded nice, but since I don't drive my Vett every day anymore, I wanted to get loud and had hoped that this system would do the trick. I will need to see if I start to like the sound, if not, oh well........I'll deal with it as is

It's the firing order that is the difference in sound you are looking for. I agree the Ford motors sound great, but when it comes down to it I'd rather have the better performance of the LS1...stock for stock.

The sound of Bullets at idle is good, and WOT is GREAT especially when shifting at redline, but I absolutely do not care for light part throttle up shifting through the gears sound of them. It sounds like a lowriders exhaust with glasspacks. I either come off a start heavy throttle to make em sound decent or I come off shifting very low rpm and slow and they sound nice, but anything in between and it just flat out sounds yucky (but...I almost always come off starts heavy foot and always shift gears in town or on freeway at 4k and up so for the most part mien are always sounding decent). Here are a few of my typical starts and twisty road in car videos:

LSX motor will not ever sound like a ford motor! The firing order in these motor make them sound more like a Ferrari too me lol.
I have headers and Corsa and it sounds good to me but not like a Ford they sound great at low end.

Good luck!
Sound clip!
