Just recently I started hearing a very odd noise coming from my Climate Controll. The best way I can describe it would be a very high pitched chattering or rattling sound. It comes only intermittently and only when I have the air/heat on. Being that winter is approaching and I like to have heat in my car, just keeping the heat off isn't an option heh.
Anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this, or what the most likely fix would be? I always like to fix things myself before goin to the stealership. THNX
Does the sound change when you change fan speeds? My 04 did a similar thing last year, sorta sounds like a playing card in bike spokes, and it was the fan. replaced under warranty.

When you say climate control system,,,to me that means the box in the dashcenter console that adjust the temperature and vents.
I think you mean HVAC System. Like C5COM67 stated,,,does the sound vary with a change in temp or change in fan speeds or change in vent duct position??
They only things in the HVAC system that really moves and will make noises are the fan:
The Temp Controllers:
The vent vacuum controllers:
If you get trash (mouse nest) in the fan, YEP,,,it will make noise!
I have the dual climate controller and I have noticed that while the AC is on and the fan motor at low speed, I can hear a squeaking like noise. If I turn the temp up higher it goes away and if I turn it lower it goes away. It's like the electronics are trying to compensate for the temperature when it is set close to actual temperature outside. Any Ideas?
Looks like you have a 98. If thats the case, the lower bronze bushing on your fan motor is likely the sourse of your noise. To fix mine (it was really noisey) I drilled a small hole in the metal part of the case that covers that bearing and injecting some spray lubricant. Worked like a champ!
Dont drill too deep. All you need to do is drill deep enough to pierce the housing and get oil in the bronze bushing.
The later C5's ( I think they changed motors in 2000) do not have an enclosed bearing.
