Own an 01 coupe with 49K miles. Alarm went off without any mischief. Cancelled alarm with key. Reset alarm with fob. Alarm sounds again later in the day. Alarm will sound if I set with fob but doesn't seem to do this if I set with key in lock. Replaced car battery about 4 months ago. Anyone seen this before.
Locking the door with the key wont arm the alarm. Or at least mine wont(I just tried it). And as far as I know the only thing that will set off the alarm is if the door is opened while the alarm is set, without the fob or the key opening it(reaching through the window and unlocking it then opening the door). Just a wild guess but do you have to slam your door to get it to close? Maybe its a problem with your door either not closing or the door ajar switch isn't working properly. Hopefully that helps.

Correct. To arm the alarm without the fob, you must use the inside door lock switch before closing the door. The door key will turn off the alarm (And disarm security) when using the key to unlock the door.

i'm having the same isue - we have narrowed it down to the wire harness and/or connector in the driver's door - caused by stress on the wires due to lambo door installation. i think that all it will take is to go through the wires one by one to see what is shorting out what. in the meantime i have just unplugged the thing which means the window doesn't go down, memory settings don't work etc. but hey - it's winter up here and my garage is full of other cars!
