Wisconsin state troopers radar....
Does any one know if WI has new radar that a year old V1 wouldn't detect?
OR, could it be their radar is off and they are waiting to turn it on at the last minute? (They are definitely tracking for speeders and not napping because I did see a couple people get pulled over).
Thx
Basically the officer uses his eyes to detect a vehicle that is "speeding" ... he then fires the "gun" and captures the data about the speeder ... once the gun captures the data it stops transmitting radio signals until the officer asks it to capture the next speeder, and it is those radio transmissions that your detector is looking for.
This is the LEO answer to radar detectors .... they can sit on a highway giving off no clue they are there until they see you come ripping up on them ... they hit you with the "gun" ... gotcha ... and leave little evidence they are in the area for other radar detectors to pick up ... just a quick blast of the gun and they are done.
That's why you need to be VERY sensitive if your detector picks up a signal, especially in rural areas .... if your detector gives you a "hint" that there are radio signals on the K-band frequency, SLOW DOWN, there is a chance there is a cop with an "instant on" gun in the area.
Unfortunately in less rural (metropolitan) areas there are so many devices on the same frequencies (especially X-Band), like door openers at your local WallMart/Safeway, that deciding what are "valid" hits becomes much more difficult.
Bottom line, "speeding" is just becoming that much more difficult ... I look at your average LEO as a tax collector equipped with a gun ... you speed ... pay the tax .....
If you didnt get clocked, just consider yourself lucky. Your only hope is they clock the car in front of you or next to you, because they have you clocked when your detector goes off, and it's too late.

Radar detectors are useful, but they don't guarantee you will get away with speeding .....
I flew into Chicago on business a while ago ... and the plane out of SFO was WAY late ... so when I arrive my last connection into Madison WI was long gone. UAL offers me a free hotel in Chicago but the morning flight into Madison will get me there much later than the start of the meeting I'm flying in for.
So I grab a rental car and head off to Madison. At first I'm doing like 65 MPH with the cruise control set, but after an hour or so (it is now like 2 in the morning) I'm falling asleep and there is no one on the road ...
So I'm bumping up the cruise control from 65 to 70 to 80 to finally 90. I come over a hill, it is pitch dark in every direction (I'm somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin farm country) and suddenly I've got cop lights behind me .....
He was a local sheriff ... sitting to the side of the road, and he had me nailed with his radar gun. He pulls me over, sees my out of state drivers license, and tells me he's taking me to jail unless I can pay the fine on the spot .... I ive him my VISA card, he radios in my VISA card data ... I am not kidding .... and as I'm signing the VISA card receipt and ticket this MF local yocal has the audacity to tell me to "protect" my credit card data ... after he has just broadcast my info across who knows how many counties ....
Again, as far as I'm concerned ... LEOs are tax collectors protected by a gun and a badge ....

look at the serial and plug it in on the v1 website

So tell me again why you would speed anywhere into something blind?
First rule of speed club never speed at the top of a hill
Second rule never be the lone car with a large distance between you and cars behind you.
third rule... i can not tell you

Some of the local polices around here use laser a lot, but I've not seen much laser from the troopers.
If you saw several of them staged together and pulling people over, it is also possible they were also using aircraft to time cars between road markings and determine speed that way. They don't do it often, but I have seen them do it.
And if it is not ON .... how does the detector "detect" it .....
If you think your detector is protecting you from "instant on" radar ... you are living in a dream world .....
Usually the first time a radar detector tells you an "instant on" gun is in use is when it just clocked you ....
Hello , cops are stupid, but they are smarter than you are ... they can/will beat you at this game ..... "instant on" radar is very difficult to beat ....

Yes, I would agree... Instant on radar by the troopers. Radar detectors are an "aid" not a substitute for "paying attention".

Probably laser gun.
