Torque Converter
I have read Patches posts on the Yank SS3200 so far. My questions are...
(1) What is the stall speed in the GM stock converter I have now?
(2) What would be a reasonable price to pay a transmission shop to make this swap?
(3) The transmission shop I am considering was recommending Pro Torque brand. How does this compare to Yank and do they have something comparable to the SS3200?
(4) Do I need to make any other modifications to see the benefits of a new converter?
I never take the car on the track - it is for sprited street driving only. Reliability and smoothness is paramount.
Perosnally, I think a Pro-torque 2400 would be a good choice for you. I had one and loved it. I moved up to a 3200 stall as I used to drag race the car. If I did not race then I would have stuck with the 2400. The car will have zero drivability issues, will not need a cooler, and will roast the tires all day long if you are into that. Call Pro-Torque and speak to them...These converters are very reliable....Tony
I just received a price quote from Gene at GM PartsHouse and the price looks good, but he said that he did not have any information on what the actual Stall Speed was? What is it and how can I confirm it prior to purchase?
I don't have the exact stall speed. But it's about 400 - 500 rpm more than the stock C5 TC.
