Default P0420 P0430 Error

Im after some help/advice. I have 02 coupe which has had a custom exhaust with Hi flow cats and a re-map.

I am having an issue with error codes P0420/0430 appearing on the DIC with the check engine light. The thing is they only come on occasionally and always when in heavy traffic.

I have since had the rear 02 sensors turned off but the error still appeared, has anyone any idea's on how to solve this. The performance has not been affected when the check light comes on and it clears as soo as I reset the codes.

Any help appreciated.

Do you know exactly what they did when they "turned off" the rear sensors?

No but I could find out. I thought if you urned them off it would stop al errors as they are not monitoing but this does not seem to be the case.

They are going to look at it again I was just trying to see if I could get any information to help them out.

I had the same problem after my headers/hi flo cats install. We replaced my rear 02 sensors with 02 Sims (simulators)...that got rid of the 420/430 codes...however, if HP Tuners is used to remove those codes, they will not return...what did your Tuner "use" to eliminate rear 02 codes?....that may be your problem,

Not 100% sure what they used strange I know. They have done alot of work on GTO,s same engine etc but this is the first C5 they have done.

They have done a superb job its just this annoying problem to solve. If they disable the codes would this solve the problem?

There are several parameters that require changing, and I am by no means the expert. I would ask in the tuning section and also on either the HPTuners web site or EFI Live (there may already be a sticky or something on this at these web sites).

it is more then just one thing that needs to be changed, not sure what the tuners actually change to stop the codes from coming up.
