When changing to non-F45 shocks has anyone tried removing the electronics from the F45 shocks and reconnecting them instead of using adapters or rigging to fool the computer to thinking the F45's are still there?
In order to circumvent the high cost of replacing the auto adjusting shocks many choose to opt for the much less expensive Bilsteins, or Koni's, etc. In doing so the connectors for the F45's need to be rigged to make the computer think that the F45's are still there, thus eliminating any error codes for the shocks. There are a few methods for doing this which involve purchasing the necessary electronic parts. So my thought is why not pull the electronics from the orig. shocks, if that is possible.
F-45 is an option. All options can be removed or added to the vehicle. Why don't you just find someone with a GM TECH II and de program it out of the BCM. You can also have the dealer do it.
They will most likely charge you one hour labor. (Sometimes you have to find a dealer that knows their way around a TECH II Not all tech are created equal!! ) Yes it can be done. There are a few post out there that detail it. It a LOT cheaper than installing SIMULATORS . With it removed,, you can remove all the electronics too!!
Once you have the damn F 45 removed, install some GM C6 07 ZO6 shocks, C5 ZO6 sway bars and really enjoy your car!!

2nd that
remove the F45 shocks - mine were toast at 64k miles.
(lowered most of its life)
I put C6/Z06 shocks on mine for around $220 out the door (all 4).
Instructions to remove old ones and install new ones are here on the forum.
Went ahead and put the C5/Z06 sway bars and bushings on while I had the Vette up on jack stands.
HUGE difference in the ride!!!
To fool the F45, I went to Radio Shack and bought the resistors.
Soldered them up, and then heat shrunk them up tight.
Left enough wire dangling to wiretie them under the car.
do a search of the forum for DELETE F45 or REMOVE F45
When I replaced my F45's (also completely worthless at 60k miles) with Bilsteins I just cut the wires and had the option deleted with tech 2 programmer. No problems. *Remember to disconnect RTD module in left trunk compartment under carpet.
There was a thread a while back that said to solder 10 watt, 10ohm resistors at each connection where the shocks are.
I am going to coil overs and will try the resistor fix. If it doesn't work will have a dealer disable the F45.

I saw that thread but my question is can the electronics be pulled from the old shocks instead of rigging resistors and such?

best either to put the 10ohm resistors inline (i have 4 extras if you can't find them at your local radio shack), or to have the Dealership use TECH II to delete the option from your Vette.
