Default Are TPS Sensors Mandatory?

I have a 98 corvette and was thinking about changing wheels but are the use of TPS Sensors necessary? Will the DIC throw anything if they are not being used. Thanks in advance.

Yep, you'll get messsages but you can just hit reset. On 2001 and up the sensors can be programmed out but not on the 2000 down.........

Yes you can use aftermarket wheels but you will get the tire pressure sensor warnings all the time--you can turn it off but it gets annoying--I have aftermarket wheels and i just removed the sensors and installed them on my new wheels--you can do the same--the sensor is a part of the valve stem assy. I don't think you can turn off the sensors permanently but you may be able to with a Tech II--A programmer like HP or EFILIVE won't do it--

I agree ,, why would you not want to have such a valuable asset. Here are pictures of the two style sensors. One is the early sensor, 97-2000 and the newer style 2001 + You CAN NOT interchange them!

2001+ mounted

After awhile it will not say anything about the tire pressure sensors missing. It will just be blank when you look at the rf/lf rr/lr gauges.
