I have a 98 corvette and was thinking about changing wheels but are the use of TPS Sensors necessary? Will the DIC throw anything if they are not being used. Thanks in advance.
Yes you can use aftermarket wheels but you will get the tire pressure sensor warnings all the time--you can turn it off but it gets annoying--I have aftermarket wheels and i just removed the sensors and installed them on my new wheels--you can do the same--the sensor is a part of the valve stem assy. I don't think you can turn off the sensors permanently but you may be able to with a Tech II--A programmer like HP or EFILIVE won't do it--

I agree ,, why would you not want to have such a valuable asset. Here are pictures of the two style sensors. One is the early sensor, 97-2000 and the newer style 2001 + You CAN NOT interchange them!
