Default Winterizing - Dumb Question

Well, I decided to throw in the towel on the weekend and put my car to bed for the winter. I did the usual stuff; change oil, fuel stabilizer, wash, pull battery etc etc. I then wanted to add a little air to my tires and ran in to trouble. For some reason I couldn't get them to take any air. Of course I checked the obvious - my compressor was on. I then tried 3 different nozzles and none worked. I tried 3 of the 4 tires and still nothing.

I recently replaced my tires and have not had to adjust the pressure til now. Since I removed the battery before adjusting the air pressure, is it possible that the sensors are preventing air from being added? If thats not it, is there anything else that it could be?

Your pressure sensors have nothing to do with the air passage into the tire so that would not be your problem. Make sure you are using the correct style air chuck as using the incorrect style will not allow air to enter tire, something to do with pressure monitering they are all that way.

Same thing happened to me the first time. I read on here that it might be the O-ring from the cap is wedged inside the tire valve instead of the cap.

Thanks for the tip. I think that is my problem as well. When I look at the stem without the cap, I see rubber in there. I'll bet its the o-ring. I'll check tonight when I get home from work.

Unfortunately it works both ways. I have seen slow leaks for the same reason.

Those little O-rings are a pain... I got a set of cheapo generic plastic caps that have the flat rubber washer in them. Took them out of the cheapos and put them in my brass caps. Problem solved

Thanks for the help everyone. The forum comes through again.

It was the O-rings and the problem is solved. I had some oversize O-rings that I inserted in the place of the culprits and they seem to stay with the caps.
