I replaced mine ('04) at 8000 miles and and it was a waste of time. The C6 shifter, except for the shorter angled shaft, is the same as the C5 shifter. Unless yours is terribly worn, don't expect a big difference.
Yes, and I like it , really no cons , shifts smooth and I like the way it looks and feels. Got it from Gene !

Initially, I wasn't that impressed but the more I drive (well, drove since it is away for the winter ) with the new shifer, the more I like it. Looking back, the stock shifter felt like I was driving a truck.
I am glad I did this. (I have a 2000 with ~40k miles)

The C6Z06 shifter doesn't shift any "better," but it does shorten the throw -- for me, combined with the C6 **** (*much* better ergonomically, IMO), the shifter is now at the perfect position under my hand throughout the range of motion.
