Default Anti-Venom mod analysis

I finally got a chance to do this mod (while the car was up in the air for its annual oil change) and here's what I found:

Shifter: BPP angled short-throw

Washers used: 20mm ID x approx 25mm OD x 1.3mm (.052") thick copper washers, purchased at the hardware store for a few bucks.

Tools: 15/16? (I believe) socket (a 24mm would probably work), 2-inch long extension, and socket wrench.

I bought three washers, not knowing how many I would need. After installing all three for a total thickness of about .156", I sat in the car and shifted through the gears - WAY too sloppy and I couldn't find 5th gear!

Next, I removed one washer for a new total washer thickness of .104" - MUCH better up and down movement. Side-to-side will not change because that effort is dependent upon the shifter springs that I selected from a few different ones from BPP. However, 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6 shifts are almost exactly like a Z06 shifter, only shorter. The gear click is not nearly as pronounced - more like a stock shifter feeling.

I've been driving the car for half a week now and I think the ideal washer thickness would be a tad less than what I have - maybe .07 - .08" of total thickness.

Overall though, I am very happy with the combination of very easy shifts and super-short throws, making this even better than the C6 Z06 shifter that I have tried at the car show. Of course, your opinion may vary, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents......

No, my opinion doesn't vary I had exactly the same results a couple weeks ago on my C6. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ght=washer+mod

I did go to one washer, and liked the feel even more. The reason for this reply is to note that there seems to be a bit of tranny-to-tranny variation, as my C5 was happier with a slightly thicker stack, like yours. So, when others do this mod, remember to try several thicknesses to find what feels best to you.
