Default Memory "Inside" Mirrors?

My car is at the dealership and one of the problems on my list was that the side view mirrors would reposition irratically upon starting the car or exiting and re-entering the vehicle with the engine running. When I went by to check on the car today they said they thought they had located the problem and that they were going to replace both the "mirrors"? I said I did not think there was anything computer-related inside the mirror housings, but they said there was.

This also would not explain why the A/C changes settings when the mirrors go crazy (in my mind).

Am I crazy?

You also may want to have the battery checked out...

The A/C, Radio presets, Mirrors, and Seat position, and steering wheel tel. are all controlled with the memory presets. When you unlock the car with Remote #1 they key to preset #1, When you unlock the car with Remote #2 they key to preset #2

The memory feature can be corrupted if the battery voltage drops LOW. This can happen if your sits for L O N G periods of time, the battery is bad or you leave something on that wasnt suppose to be left on. When the car is started it draws 400 amps and the voltage drops LOW. If it dips below the module cut off voltage, the module will turn OFF, reset all memory functions to the factory preset and normaly generate a U=1000 series DTC.. What DTC are you displaying or reading???????

Default Mirrors ONLY have motors and maybe pots to see where they are set

My 98 with memory actually has 3 memory settings and you can train 3 key fobs to different settings. When you have the radio on and mirrors set and HVAC to what you desire press and hold the memory 1, 2, and 1 and 2 together (one at a time) and wait till the LEDs flash to show that they are set.

If someone ELSE drives the car and uses fob 2 or 3 set the above to THEIR settings. My wife is about 5' and im 6'3 so we have different settings. Whichever Key FOB you use to unlock the car will determine which setting the seats, mirrors etc will go to. I've been almost crushed to death after my wife uses her fob as the actions take place after you turn on the ignition. Watch out or you might be a candidate for the soprano section if you are in there when the seat goes all the way up and forward. BIGHANK

The mirrors have two different motors and tiny feed back sensors (variable resistors ) inside that feed the position of the mirror back to the seat control module. If there not working correctly, then you have the change the mirror.

If there bad it should set a DC. Do you have any DTCs/??????

I did not run any codes before I took the car in since my list was so long anyway (transmission, water pump, both window regulators out, etc.). I will see if I can get some codes - looks like the car will be at the dealership for at least one more week (they estimated 1-2 days last Monday).

What are the chances that these mirror sensors would go out in both mirrors at the same time after 7 years? Plus the A/C also changes its memorized settings at the same time (most of the time).
