Default Patriot vs. Trick Flow

This may have been asked before but, forgetting the price, based on performance only, which heads are better on the LS1? My car (2002 a4 coupe) will going in the shop soon and my guy will be using Trick Flow heads which he recomends and installs them on all his cars. My uncle has a 2000 SS with Patriot heads and says the performance is the same for less too. So, which heads are better?

My pckage will include Trick Flow heads, custom grind cam, fast intake, scorpion rocker arms, comp cam valve springs, LG pro long tube headers xpipe and cats, 3600 stall converter, 3.73 gears and custom tune. I might have missed a few things but thats it. The cam will be for a broad power band with good top end, dont know all specs yet. We're aiming for 450-470 rwhp. At .600 lift the patriots flow 2cfm more but the trck flows out flowed the patriots exhaust by 22cfm. Should I stick with TF?

The Patriot heads are a good budget head but the Trick Flows are in a league of their own.

Not sure if you bought them yet, but there have been a few issues with the Scorpion rockers. If you have bought them, clearance the inside of your valve covers where the aluminum nubs hold on the baffles. You don't have to remove the baffles, just grind down the nubs. Check for clearance prior to starting the motor.

ya i would think the patriot heads are a good head if u dont have alot of money to sink in it ,or if u wanna do some other stuff to the car then the patriot heads make a good choice ,if u can fork out an xtra 1,000 dollars or more for the tfs heads than so be it,i would think there may be a 40 to 50 diffirernce in power ,maybe more maybe less ,each car is different ,Supporting mods will contribute to the end rwhp #s in the end its all about the $

See my sig for set up and numbers with the Trickflow. I'm hoping to get 465-470 once I do the ported Fast 90 combo. I don't see 470 coming from an A4. I guess a monsterous cam might get you there.

small cam + TFS 215s with cats + LT = 11.3s. I've only launched the car 6 times. I actually think it will go a little faster. I've heard good things about the other heads, but if you look closely you will see a lot of success stories w/the TFS heads. As a whole, they generally work really good.

See my sig. The lg is on 114 and does have over .600 lift on both sides. I have hit 457rwhp with non ported fast and on a 90 degree day in August. I think I can tune another 10 out of it just haven't had time to get back to the dyno lately. Car has only 45000 on block.

I picked up 41hp. with a set of Patriots I bought used for $800 thats $19.51per hp. At $2300 a pair you would need to gain 118hp to get the same hp per dollar with Trick Flows.Dyno Graphs here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1874971 The $1500 I saved will pay for alot of the forged bottom end build when I go FI.

Patriot heads work great. I've had a set for years and they have always performed.

I vote for Patriots. I have ported Trickflows, nothing special for the extra money. See signature.
