TR55 is a copper core plug and conducts better. You in theory have to change more often but a lot of guys are getting a lot of miles from the TR55 plugs, to the point of feeling guilty pulling them out because they look so good.

So what is the result of running NGK's? More horsepower? I have not seen a dyno chart for a spark plug change yet.

in a stock motor plugs do not affect HP unless they are worn or they are for the wrong application

I don't get this "love affair" with the NGK plugs .....

The GM recommended plug for your engine is the AC Delco 41-985 (GM part # 12571164 ) ....

The plug comes CORRECTLY pre-gapped at 0.040 for your engine .....

see .... http://www.acdelcotechconnect.com/pd..._03D-J-171.pdf

for info on the swap to these plugs from the "original" platinum plugs ....

Plenty of 10 second cars running GM Iridium plugs.

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ lists them for $5.20 each (use the GM part number to locate them ... which is $41.60 plus shipping) ....

and Napa Auto Parts stores carry them on the shelf. Call your local store (the on-line at http://www.napaonline.com/ doesn't list a price for them) and use the AC Delco part number to get a price.

I think people make too much about plugs. Use NGK and be happy. I challenge anyone to feel ANY difference just on using a different plug..copper, iridium etc. Maybe if you can measure combustion in the chamber you can see a difference. In real life, no way.

Hey Mickey,
You're gonna love those LG streets I just had them installed on my '04 not more than a month ago along with a low temp thermostat, the ever popular NGK TR55 plugs ($2.49 ea)and a Dyno Tune. Something else you may or may not want to consider are the Locking Header bolts. They only cost around $40.00 and prevent the header bolts from backing out. The shop I use recommended them as they have seen some of the bolts on occassion back out. My feeling was I got this much in it I'm not going to worry about the xtra $40.00. (peace of mind).

Hope this helps.
