Today I finally put the Vette up on jack stands and got under it to look for an oil leak. Everthing looks good around the oil pan and the neawly installed turbo lines but the area next to the oil filter somehow had a light film of oil on it. I cleaned up the area with simple green and drove it again...there was an area about the size of a dollar with a light film of oil on it. The only thing I could see was a drip coming out of the drain bolt hole. I guess my question is...can the o-rings on the bolt fail? This is the only possibility!
Hi Gregory - I see many C5's in my shop and I've never seen a leak at the drain plug but it could happen. I have some used C5 drain plugs that you can have if you want to pick them up. No Charge.

If there is trash beween the seal and the pan, or of the pan sealing area was damaged or if the seal (there pretty tough) got damaged, yes, it will leak.
If your thinking about changing out the drain plug, go to the dealer and pick up a magnetic replacement plug! It a great MOD and only cost a few bucks.
