I had a 2006 Nissan Frontier truck with 30,000 miles on it. 3 days ago I drove by the car lot and saw a 2000 Corvette with 57000 miles on it in great shape for a great price.
Well, all those curves and all the power and all the beauty of the car made me crazy and I bought it.
The thing that bothers me is that the car has 57,000 miles on it. Is this pretty high miles for a corvette? What are my chances that this call will live to see 150,000?

I have 91K on my 99 FRC. Still runs very well. I am going to put a new clutch in it this month, but other than that it is fine.

Kind of late in the game to be asking those questions...isn't it? I suppose it depends on how you are going to drive the car, how the previous owner maintained the car, and if it has ever been wrecked/abused. If the car was driven daily, that would be considered low miles for a 2000.
Some questions:
1) Did you have the car put on a lift and inspected?
2) Any evaluation of the engine condition, etc ?
3) Did you have anyone on the forum run the VIN to check service history?
I've owned 3 vettes... 2 c4 and currently a c5. Long story short... vette 1 had 135k (it was purchased used and I only had to replace the head gaskets w/ normal service intervals) vette 2 had 185k when it was sold (I bought it w/ 80k on it. regular service, a wheel baring, a radiator, and a few other minor fixes and it still ran strong).
Currently, the 2000 has 85k (purchased around 57k like you). Outside of the troublesome oil pressure sensor, fuel gage issue, and hazard switch the car has had NO problems. The three issues are quite common with c5 vettes... search the forum and you'll see. I had to replace the differential gasket too (yes another common issue).
In short, a vette will last you a very long time, if you service it regularly and drive it normally (spirited driving is allowed). You may have a minor issue or two, but overall it should be fine. If you race or drive the car extremely hard, it will accelerate the wear on the car. Just have it looked over from time to time to prevnt any problems.
NO you didn't make a mistake, you made a brilliant choice. Welcome to the family!
Sounds good to me. You may want to see if you can have a "friendly" service writer run the VIN for the GM service history to see if it has had many electrical problems. Someone here might do it for you. I did with my local dealer and he even gave me the print out for my file and it looked good, just a few small things under warranty. I have 48k on my 01'.

It is a little late but you could run a carfax or autocheck to see if any serious collision damage. I like autocheck, much more complete information and at same cost. Don't ask for either of these here as that is not allowed.

A lot of Corvettes spend too much time in a garage. These cars are built to be driven. You will probably have that newly acquired grin on your face for at least another 100,000 miles. No worry's

Hi,
Got my 2000 last year with 79,333miles. Now has 96,600miles and still running like a top.
Not trying to pee on the campfire here, but how could you possibly know that based on the OP's description?
I once looked at a sebring silver 99. It was picture perfect, and super clean. Before I would talk terms with the dealer, I asked him to put it up on a lift for a look. That poor baby was leaking from everything! Tranny, differential, and motor. On top of that, one endlink was broken, and the rockers were cracked on both sides from improper jacking. It made me sick to see the car in this condition. Further inspection revealed the battery had leaked badly, so I called it a day. It had 61,000 on the odometer.
I think it's great with all that "welcome to the club stuff", but when the guys is asking "did I make a mistake", you really need more info to make that determination. Right?
