Did I make a mistake???

Well, all those curves and all the power and all the beauty of the car made me crazy and I bought it.
The thing that bothers me is that the car has 57,000 miles on it. Is this pretty high miles for a corvette? What are my chances that this call will live to see 150,000?
Thanks for your opinions...

Dang I just SuperCharged mine at 85,000 miles and it works awesome and is super strong!
Your Vette will go way beyond 150,000 miles - You made the right choice
Thanks,Matt
An accident is not a major deal if you find out it was in one. So long as the repairs are done correctly it will be fine.
If you are having buyers remorse then welcome to the club of millions who have made what appears to be an uninformed buyers choice.
I say enjoy your "new" car and don't worry about your past decision. However, when an issue does occur come back here and post what the problem is and it is highly likely you will find an answer that will allow you to make a better decision regarding the repair process.

I have had TWO C5's. They both passed the 50,000 mile mark with out any major issues.I currently have an 02 ZO6 and a 06 C6. I'm EXTREMELY happy with my Corvettes!
There are many C5 owners that have passed the 250-300K mileage mark and their cars are still going. On the other hand,,there are C5 owners who have had SIGNIFICANT issues with their C5's. Hopefully, you did a through assessment on your car prior to purchase and adjusted your PURCHASE price accordingly.
Yes,, your C5 should pass the 150k mark without issue! I run my 02 ZO6 VERY HARD and it at 55K+ and still running STRONG and has NOT had any drive train problems! As long as you do the required maintenance, mileage isn't normally the LIMITING factor.
The C5 Corvette is an OUTSTANDING platform and I'm sure once you drive the car and learn how it truly performs you will have a different opinion.
BC
Yea,,,there are some C5 HORROR STORIES
but, I bet if you canvas all the MAJOR car manufactures you will find the same if not worse problems! (Take that to the bank!!!!!!!)Trading from a TRUCK to a C5 to me was the correct move!

check this thread... It's titled "300,000 Miles and Counting."http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1866462
Like the above poster mentioned, this gentleman has 300k on it and its quite obvious he pampers and maintains the car on a regular basis.
Just a quick note...the engines that are in the c5 corvettes were tested thoroughly:under pressure, normal drive, harsh weather, etc.
What GM did is place the ENGINE on a mount and have it rev to the maximum potential it can rev on and they left the engine on that way. The engine, on full RPM, lasted 21 days and some odd hours. Just think about that

Like most people said, just run a quick carfax and make sure all things are ok.

Other than oil and other fluids. The only maintenance has
been tires and a serpentine belt.
With that kind of mileage on yours, you've got plenty
left in it.
Enjoy it!!!

Stick with us here and in no time you'll know your car inside out. Most problems can be fixed and overall this car is pretty reliable given the level of performance. 57 k is a youngster
Welcome to the madness
When ever I go somewhere in my vette, it is always a conversation piece. I think almost everyone loves vettes.
Thank you for your posts and comments. They helped me feel better about my purchase, and now after a little time having the vette I feel even better!!!
Thanks guys!!!

We have a member here with 300k miles
Things to be ready to fix, oil pressure sensor, out side air temp sensor, if you have the stock battery remove it now due to a defect on the positive post it will end up leaking acid to the computer and wires, lower oil pan seal, output shaft seal (leaks on an incline in cold weather), Balancer (wobble), window operations (various fixes),
Etc etc So if you did not want a hobby car you bought the wrong car. most of us deal with it and enjoy the pleasures that far out weigh the fixes that come up here and there.

Don't lump all of us together and assume we all have the problems you do. Mine had a couple of minor issues while under warranty and has been fine for the past 7 years. People who buy used cars with high mileage should of course expect a little more maintenance than a newer one. But it's not any different for any other brand.

There is one thing I will warn you about.. you sold your truck.. and bought an Icon of American heritage.. I often refer to this car as a 100,000 dollars sports car that originally cost 50K.... thanks to GM engineering and product management, keeping the C5 within the budget.
While your truck could haul around all kinds of "Stuff" your C5 will only be good at hauling "***"
