C5 Remote problem

C5 Remote problem

I own a 2000 C5 and the remote does not hold its code for very long - a day or two at best.

The remote battery is fairly new and the car will lock and unlock from 20+ feet away when its working.

Any ideas on why the remote is losing its activation capability?

Any and all help appreciated!

I posted this in Scan and Tune, but with no luck on a solution.

I fought the same problem for a year - finally purchased one from Gene and GMPARTSHOUSE.com, and never had a problem since. It's worth the $55 bucks to not have the headache. (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1905968)

I went through the same problem. I replaced the battery at first and it would work and then nothing. Replaced the fob and haven't looked back since.

Thanks for the heads-up on the new remote idea, but I forgot to mention the problem exists when using either of my remotes.

Although it's possible that both remotes (which are original to my 2000 C5, it's highly unlikely; but if I don't find another solution, I'm taking you up on your suggestion and will try a new remote.

I'd say the guys are on the right track

Thinking around the problem. The remote unlock shares a receiver with the tire pressure system. Are your TPSs working OK? If so, it reinforces the fact that its probably the fob.

Thanks for the suggestion, but, at present, tire pressure sensors are A-okay.

I can tell from all the advice I'm getting I'm going to have to get another remote just to rule out all my options.

Both of my remotes failed with in six months of each other on my 99.
The second one sat in my desk and was hardly used until the first one bit the dust. The new one solved the problem.
