Blackwing question ?

Before l ask my question l already have a blackwing and it's been sitting in my house for over a year cleaned and ready to install.
What should l expect form it? 2002 coupe auto 3.15 rear.
Just curious and l tried the search and it came back with a zillion posts but couldn't find what l was looking for.

$150-175 if for sale
maybe 3-5hp if installing it

What l was asking is not the hp gain as much as what l should hear or feel. Is the engine more responsive at the start or mid point or top end.
It seems like a lot of money for a 5 hp gain!
Thanks
Alan
PS l am keeping it stock besides the intake.
The blackwing is one of the better filters in my opinion, and you will pick up some hp. The exact amount is not well documented, since very few people actually dyno, install a filter, then dyno again. Keep in mind, as I know you're proably well aware, for the engine to really benifit from improvements in the intake, you would of course have to make equal improvements in the exhaust.
I installed a blackwing and pulled the cats on my wife's car, and it definitly improve the performance.

The point is that it's all very subjective and it's your car to do with as you please. If you ask the question of ten people, you're more than likely to get ten different answers. Don't believe the hype of the manufacturers of hp/tq benefits of products, either.
The BLACKWING is a good after market filter with full synthetic media. It's probably the most popular filter chosen by owners. It looks more sexy than oem (see, that's very subjective
). Whether it performs better is debatable, which you might have read about in your research. Many firmly believe that a paper filter is the only filter that should be used on a Corvette C5/Z06 or any car for that matter. They've read the "latest" study on air filters. Many believe that any type of oiled gauze filter can be harmful to the motor. In my experience, that isn't the case.
I installed a BLACKWING and "ice box" CAI cover on my Z16 when I first got my car. I did a lot of research and liked it best of any other after market filter. I elected to use an after market filter because in the long run of ownership and PM on my cars, I like having a "lifetime" air filter over buying generic paper filters.
The key is cleaning the filter media regularly (I prefer every other oil change), using specific manufacturers cleaning kits and oil sparingly on a dry media. You should never see a contaminated MAF with that care.
Unfortunately, I got intermittent lean bank codes, probably because of my 5,200 ft altitude, maybe because of the reported '04 Z06-Z16 leaner factory tune. In any event, I didn't want to spend another $500 and drive 300 miles round trip for a dyno tune.
I returned to a modified oem Z06-Z16 air intake with a K&N filter. I get the same sound, same performance and no more codes. Beauty (sexy) is in the eye of the beholder...

Only time I see a lean code is when I take a long trip, buty tweaking that will be my nexty project.
