got me a 2000 C5 vette, and now i need to make some power without adding any Forced Induction. reason being, its going to be my Road-racing track day car.

So, Can i stick LS6 heads and cam to my LS1?
I was checking GM performance, and read that both LS1 and LS6 blocks are the same... so instead of my spending money on LS1 heads/cam, I would just go buy LS6 stuff.

thanks.
Here's what I installed on my stock LS1 bottom:

LS6 Heads…(2003 Z06), Gen III, The springs are comp. cam (921) dual springs and titanium retainers. The push rods are 7.400 chm pro pushrods. The rocker arm assembly’s are stock LS6.
LS6 Intake
2003 Z06 Cam..
LS2 Timing chain
25% UD Pulley
Ported LS6 oil pump
30lb SVO Injectors
LG Street LTs w/hiflow cats
Z06 TI's at the back,
Blackwing CAI
3:15 gears.

I haven't tracked it, but for me, it's tight as hell and just as fast, It dynoed at 367RWHP, 365RWTQ, and that's on the conservative end of power, I could 'probably' get more RWHP out of it. Thinking about getting a "street tune" soon.

Hope this helps with your decision.

I was also looking at the C5 heads from Vengeance racing.
they have heads and cams, but you need to buy them separately.

I was going to buy some LS6 heads and a very choppy LS6 cam.
I really dont know what to buy. Spend money on LS-6 Zo6 heads from West Coast Corvette's. OR buy C5 heads and cams from Vengeance racing.

Vengeance racing:
Trick Flow Gen III cylinder heads (they come in 215cc, 225cc, 235cc, and 245cc options)
STOCK compression (what i need)
talk about the cam later.

West Coast corvettes:
C5 head and cam package ( dont know anything about the head specs)
they said a 50-75hp increase.

ZO6 LS-6 heads with 63cc combustion chambers 10.5:1 compression.

I have no idea on what to buy. I was looking to make at least 400hp.

One can get to 400 hp in many ways. What do you want down low and mid range?

ie what are you going to use your car for?

To give you an idea.

we took my 241 heads off my 03, Bought some new 243 heads. Polished but not really ported the chambers and runners. Just cleaned up a few casting and ruff edges.

Milled the block to get about a 61 cc chamber, may be a bit more. ( run 4:1 93:100 octane )

for high rpm use, used Ti intake valves and sodium filled exhaust valves and Comp 918 springs. ( have had very good luck with 918s )

cam is small by today's standards

Comp 224/224 581/581 112+4

and LS 6 intake, again not ported but the ruff edges clean up. a TPIS PP 78mm tb my own CAI, but like the honker or Vortex

TPIS LTs, Random tech high flow cats and straight pipes.

Well into the low 400s in rwhp and rwtq. even right at 3000 rpms.

Now once I get over 6300 rpms my hp drops like a lead balloon. But I am OK with as from 2000 to 5000 rpms or 20 to 120 mph, I can stay with even most LS7s but over 120 I am toasted. On a road course that is.

FWIW, the Vengence TF 215 heads. 235s are too big for an 347. Well the 235s will work buy you might suffer loss of low to mid tq range, for upper rpm range HP )

cam, 224/228 581/588 113+2 or 224/230 581/590 113+2
( personally I like cams under .600 lift for valve train reliability )

Great low to mid range gitty up and plenty of top end punch. Yet still be a good DD

Good Luck.
