Quite an experience indeed. Last night, my near 3 year old C 5 was rendered inoperable. Got in the car, started it up,
and the DIC started flashing every conceivable message imaginable: service vehicle soon, reduced engine power, etc etc. Bing, Bong,
nothing I could do to stop it. I shut the car down moments later and then all hell broke loose. In a nutshell, the car wouldn't start. No lights,
radio, nothing, zip, not even the trunk lid button would work. It reminded me of a Pontiac GTO I had moons ago with a "kill switch" ...no juice, no fuel supply.
Got towed to a dealer and this afternoon found out that it was a bad battery cell that was the culprit. Apparently, the techies said
when the battery reaches 3 years old, sometimes they start to go bad, and the reduced voltage can cause quite a problem with the
onboard computer. You can say that again! ..Just a heads up...if your battery has some age on it.

Did the dealer just drop a new battery in and then everything was ok with the car/computer or did the bad battery cause additional damage?
The same thing happened to my wifes '98 and it was right at 3 years old. I did get the car started with a jump start and drove it straight home. Put in a new battery and all was well. No additional damage to anything.

...but the acid damage can be irrepairable. Just look at all the wires that get melted. I think everyone should take a look there under the + terminal.
Mine leaked too.
