Default LS2 and LS7 Flywheel Same Part Number?

Can someone tell me if the LS2 and LS7 flywheel has the same GM part number? Are they identical?

TIA.

Hopefully someone can answer that.. What do you have in mind?

So what have you found out so far? Did you pop the access cover?

YES.............the only difference between an LS2 and LS7 clutch assy is the disc...the disc has larger hub dampening springs. LS3 clutch assy's are exactly the same as LS7's. All of these clutches still use the junk "adjusting" pressure plate that will have issues if beat on long enough (some alot shorter than others ).......And they are all alot heavier than what you will be taking out of your car. They all use the same flywheel.

Charlie,

Changed your Avatar is see. I haven't tried the pressure plate adjustment. Not sure what it adjusts. I have the Service Manuals for the car and have read the procedure. None of the listed diagnostics aids refer you to this procedure. The manual doesn't say what the adjustment is supposed to achieve or when to perform. As such I'm doubtful this will address my problem. Also, nobody else who has contributed advice on my problem has mentioned this as a potential fix.

A forum search also offers very little input on the purpose of this procedure.

I really don't feel like taking off the headers, exhaust, etc. to get to it. Especially if I have to put it back together to get it to the shop.

In other words, I give up, it has won........... I think it's coming apart.

That adjustment procedure has been tossed around.. It definitely had to do with the contact point adjustment of the pressure plate to the flywheel.. I believe it moves the pressure plate closer to account for wear. Your might have creeped too close if the mechanism failed. It is failed.. you need to replace the clutch anyway...

Easy to check without headers...

I did not know you had headers...I thought it was stock. I have headers too.. Makes removing the plate impossible without removing them first..

Look at the bright side.. now you can get rid of the stock crap clutch.. By the way.. Why not toss some 4:10's in the rear while it's apart..

I'll make this a bit more clear.

A Corvette LS2 flywheel and the LS7 flywheel are the same.
A GTO LS2 flywheel and the LS7 are not the same.
