Your answer was the closest to the question I asked. But just to repeat, can anyone tell me if I put a Granatelli MAF Sensor (NO Translator) on my 2000 FRC which already has a twinflo intake, will I see any difference in performance WITHOUT doing any reprogramming?
Thanks :seeya
Your question cannot be answered directly.
All engines react to mods differently. The only way to know for sure how it reacts is to use a diag tool like autotap. Even seasonal changes warrant tuning that was different for say summer and winter.
This is why these one size fits all products are hit and miss at best.
Thanks Jim, Your answer was the closest to the question I asked...
Sorry for getting off topic, but I think kewlbrz is right. Here is a link to a thread I found in the archives that was very interesting to see. The dyno results look to be based on neither the 5% or 10% GMS MAF's, but certainly make me wonder about an MAF as a "plug and play" mod. (without the translator). I hope it helps. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=130165
I'll be able to give you all a more definitive answer showing actual gains this weekend--- I'm headed to the dyno again, and this time the GMAF will be on(as will the 80mm TB & TB coolant Bypass)
I know it's not the Gran alone, but it should show something of use...
Red rage,
I believe there is a C on the end of the part number for cold air box tuning. Unfortunately I threw my box out that mine came in, check on the GMS website. I know mine said right on the part label cold air tuning or something like that.
Thanks everyone! Keep the info coming. Kewlbrz said it well; "these one size fits all products are hit and miss at best". The claims of HP gains on the vendor sites don't say anything about these subtleties of needing a MAF translator or about the different versions of the MAF Sensor (5% vs. 10% rich tuning) so I appreciate your educating me. So far I'm leaning toward passing on this mod as a lot of hot air (no pun intended).
