I have a 2000 and sometimes after sitting for a few days it is very hard to get in reverse. Dealer said it is ok but I don't have much faith in them ken

I've had the same problem with my 01 except that it happens after the car gets warm. It's intermittant, and it almost always engages after the second or third try. I haven't tried doing anything about it as it's been relatively minor aggravation, and I'm not wild about putting the car in the hands of a dealer for correction. Hopefully not, but if something arises where I do have to put it in, I'll ask them to check it.

Yup, that's perfectly normal. Just put the shifter into 3rd or 4th gear first, then it'll easily slide into reverse. It'll never easily go into reverse when I start it up in the morning unless I do this. I think it has something to do with reverse not being synchronized, but I'm not sure. My Mustang Cobra used to be the same way as well, so I think a lot of performance transmissions are like this.
Haven't run into this on the Vette yet, but have on other cars. I did find that a recent change to Amsoil in the tranny made a huge difference on shifting smoothness and effort though, especially when cold.

huffyred00, not sure where you normally park your car overnight...but since mine spends the night in the garage, I just leave her in reverse then shut down. This will solve the getting into reverse problem and for me it means that if I should accidently let go of the clutch...at least I will go backwards and forwards into the garage wall.
