Default Battery leaked into computer module

I own a 1997 vette that I bought 3-4 years ago when it had 38,000 miles on it. It was and still is in good shape even though it now has 56,000 miles on it. Because the computer module sits below the battery some battery acid has leaked into the module and I've been having some electrical problems with the check engine light and the fuel gauge dial over the past couple of weeks. I know the battery leakage is a common and major problem with this model vette, and I know there's probably been a lot of threads posted on this, but I can't find any. I was wondering if someone could please either direct me to a site or previous thread that addresses the battery leaking into the computer and describes the solutions that other people have come up with. Or can someone explain to me what repairs can be done on the computer to prevent major electrical problems in the future. Is it possible to clean off the corrosion or will I need to buy a new computer system? I appreciate any and all help.

IMO....I bet the problems you are having are not related to the battery leak. The computer can be taken apart and checked for acid in the case, but in my case it was just external....and mine looked pretty bad. There is a ground connector under the battery I believe, so maybe that is causing you problems. Did you have to repair the vacuum lines? Here is a link to the thread with my issues.

Good luck with finding the culprit and keep posting here to get answers....this place rocks!!!!!
