I'll know in a few hours what the story is.

If not I would try the old oil pump as maybe your spring in the new one is bad or the pick-up tube O-ring.

O-ring was intact and perfect (it was even a new blue one).

We thought the pickup to pan clearance was a bit tight, and we checked it with clay - Does anyone know what the proper pan/pickup clearance is supposed to be?

Thanks in advance.

Check with one of the engine builders like Texas Speed, SDPC or Lingenfelter. They work with the CTS-V's as well and may be able to answer your question.

For nothing else other than insurance. IF you have problems with the engine after this due to the lack of initial oil pressure; I'd sure want them to cover the expense. So it'd be a really good idea to let them know about this before you fire it up again.

Oops. So are you like keeping a copy of this photo for the builder?

I still wonder if it might not be a good idea to take a look at the rod and main bearings before you button everything up to be sure there is no damage.
