And to think for all these years most cars never had an oil temp gauge...........
Where can I read more about optimum oil temperature?
True, but I bet alot of people didn't realize how cold the oil can still be during a warm-up when the coolant temp is near operating temperature. Theory is that if the oil temp is cold so are the valve springs. There maybe a link between broken valve springs and hight RPM on them when "cold".
I just happened to drive my Zee today (50 deg F outside temp) and recorded the coolant temp and oil temp on the DIC during warm-up.
I keep my DIC set to oil temp until the oil gets above 150, the I usually set it back to coolant temp. With the agressive lobes on my cam I want the springs to get good and warm before I even think about getting on it!
