Car was just sitting overnight in the garage. Next morning my radio and doors and god knows what else had reset like the battery had been disconnected. Did it again today while I slipped into the local beach front taco shop for some rolled tacos with guacamole. Car starts right up like nothing happened but all else is screwy.
If your battery has compromised cold cranking ability, this is exactly what happens. The car will start fine but it looses its memory. You will also normally see a LOT of "U" series DTC for the BCM. Door Control modules, SCM ect.....
Put a volt meter on your battery terminals and see what the voltage is DURING CRANKING If it drops down below 11 VDC, its time for a new battery. If its in the 10 VDC range, your going to have battery issues and your battery will run down quickly like when you run the stereo while your cleaning the car.
If your seeing 9 VDC, it really bad and memory functions will be lost during each cranking.
All points to the battery. I've been wanting to get one of the gel types anyway. Costco I heard had the best ones. Anyone know which size to use? I read somewhere they dont' fit exactly and need some sort of extra clamp. Anyone know what that might be?
