Default Possible fuel pump failure?

Hey guys, My car has recently acquired a stumble/hiccup around 2k rpms while under light loads, but not under WOT. If driving on the highway it begins to choke up almost like it's trying to spit up a hairball. This happens for a few moments and then it clears.....

The reason I think it may be the fuel pump is I can hear the pump whining in car over my 402/LG's and Bullets, which I have never noticed previously...

Could the pump be the problem, or could it be the filter, etc..?

I'm running the Racetronix/hotwire kit and fuel pressure at the rail looks fine, but something doesn't seem right..

All help is greatly appreicated!

Alan

Not sold on the fuel pump being the culprit. It has been my experience, that with a fuel pump going bad, or a restriction (clogged filter) it will idle fine, but bog out under load. Too bad you don't have a gauge pod to monitor the fuel pressure. When is the last time you've done plugs and wires?

Plugs and wires are fresh, yet I will be checking them when the car cools down a bit....I was also thinking the filter sock could be clogged...I'll check and get back, bet please feel free to add any info...

I had that same stumble at 2k RPMs. It turned out to be a bad O2 sensor. You might try that, before pulling the pump. Put it on a scanner and see what it happening.

Check fuel pressure for your own sanity, then check the oscillations on the 02 sensors. Thats an oxygen sensor symptom (clears up at WOT when your system goes to open loop)..

I pulled the plugs and found that the pass. side was completely fouled...Needless to say I bought a new 02 and we'll see if that does the trick!

Thanks for the thoughts you guys!
