Anybody have any luck with LS7 clutch and drilling out the restriction in the slave? I'm running 446 RWHP and having the typical heat issues with the clutch. soft pedal that sticks on hard fast shifts. Clutch fluid burns and gets the black deposits. I'm getting next round of mod's which will include 390 gears. What is the best single disc to match my set up?
Do I need to go double?
Timely thread for me thanks for letting me in to the party
Don, did you just swap the clutch and keep your stock flywheel in? Does the flywheel need to be turned?
I re-used my oem flywheel and had it turned and balanced

One thing you could do it get some heat wrap (good to at least 1000 F) and wrap the whole line from the slave to the master. I did the drill mond on mine also. I have heard the LS7 does not like high rpm launches. If you are running that much HP on the stock clutch I am surprised its even lasting that long

Hey Joe! Here we are again. I'm also looking at doing my clutch right now. I know I'm doing all new hydraulics and going to use heat wrap. Now I need to find the right clutch(LS7, Centerforce Dual Friction 12", Textralia single) and also whether or not to do the drill mod. Maybe someone from ECS will chime in on what they think of the drill mod?
is the Center Force Dual Friction real grabby? or can it be streetable?
i don't commute so a little grabby is OK just want the family to be able to drive it in a pinch
It is VERY streetable. Grabs great stock pedal feel. I like the clutch. I'll have mine forsale with Fidanza flywheel here in the coming months. I'm switch to a Spec Twin Disc for my LS2/D1SC upgrade .

The drill mod wont hurt anything, it will help if any
I'm about due for a clutch and running 510hp/ 490tq with a d1sc, plan on doing a cam and maybe a head swap and up the boost sooner or later. Hoping for somewhere in the 650 range, should I go with the tex exo-skel or is the oz-700 good enough? Also what this drilling mod all about?
Centerforce hubs are now made in Brazil and are garbage.
Hmmm, well there are guys on LS1tech with 430+ rwhp on them and they have 25K+ miles and are still holding strong. Centerforce FTMFW but thanks for that great info

My CF DF clutch in my 450 rwhp Pontiac lasted less than 600 miles and never once was down the track. It was all street driving.
Centerforce is a hit or miss and now their quality control is iffy with part of their operation in Brazil. I had it on another car and it seemed to be fine, yet on 2 others they werent good at all.

Spec 3+, rated at 850ftlbs and great for drag racing! Not much over stock peddle feel, and the 3+ is a full disk, not the 6 puck, so it doesn't have the chatter problems!
