Okay, I am going to admit that I am struggling with an install, and it might be because it is almost 3am. So, with that being said, hopefully someone can help me out.
I am switching shocks out on my 2000 C5. I am taking out the Penskes (which have been lowered) and putting in the stock shocks that came with it. I am shipping it to its new owner and the car is currently too low.
I put the shock in, but I am wondering if I did it properly. When I lower the car, and the weight of the car is on the suspension, the top of the shock is sticking way out of the inner fender. I feel very silly asking what I am doing wrong, but honestly I don't really care right now... just need some help. Any late-nighters on here? I will monitor this thread and can provide more information as needed.

This part didn't make sense to me, can you post a picture?
The ride height is changed by turning the adjustment screws through the lower control arms over the transverse leaf springs. These are the primary adjustment for ride height.

You will need to COMPRESS the shocks by hand and tie them in a compressed condition. You can use some wire or some heavy duty weed whacker string. Once there compressed you can insert them in place and use a jack to raise the suspension to meet the shock or just cut the string / wire. I think that is your issue. If not, please post a picture.
Like it was stated earlier,,,shocks have no effect on the ride height of the car.
As others have pointed out, while the Penskes might have been put on the car to accommodate the lowering, they do not control the ride height of the car. You can search for "lowering" and get plenty of threads on that topic.
I appreciate all the help. The shocks are cool. After reading the 'how-to' I realized I didn't have a six pack of beer. Now that I do, things are going great.
WOW, I feel REALLY strong now, I replaced mine without the zip ties!!! HOOORRRRAAAAHHH!!! Only drank 1 beer too!! I like how he polishes off the 6pack and then says, get in the car and go get more beer!
Yes, I found his write-up informative and comical.
You definately need plenty of humor when scraping all the skin off your knuckles working on the car!

I just got done installing my ACA projector HID's. My hands look like I tried to force feed a cat.
